Student Testimonial
“For the magazine The Lemur, I work as a staff writer. I usually write about cultural topics. During my time at Duke, I published two articles, one about my love for jazz and another one about the fantastic theater performance “Cabaret” at the Rubi. I’m still writing for them.
Recently, they published my article about the first American Nobel Prize winner in literature, Sinclair Lewis. I’m so proud to work with them. I would never have believed that I could publish articles in English during my time at Duke.
Right now, I’m also preparing essays from one of our writing workshops at the English Department for publication. But The Lemur is not only about articles. It’s also about the people themselves, whom I really enjoyed. We debated together, we had dinner together, we had literature seminars and writing hours together, or we just went to the movies.
With the Lemurs, I really found a new family. My Duke family. They’re so funny and cool. Probably for the first time in my life, I found people with whom I could talk about American literature in such depth. I hope to meet them again one day. (I really think about coming back soon, maybe for a PhD program, to the States.)”
